Ready for fridge or meatballs

I often see mince meat balls on offer at my local supermarket, which I buy and pop in my freezer. What better sauce to have with meatballs than Marinara Sauce? The sauce can be prepared in advance. Over time, you can tweak the herbs you use depending on your tastes and what is in your cupboard.

Prep: 5 minutes 20 Cooking time

Ingredients

400-gram can of peeled plum tomatoes

1 tsp of celery salt

1 Tbsp of finely chopped fresh basil or half a tsp of dried basil

1 Tbsp of olive oil

1 onion, finely chopped

Method

Add the tomatoes, celery salt, and basil to a blender and blend until smooth. Set aside for the moment. Heat the oil in a frying pan. When the pan is hot enough, sauté the onions until they are translucent and soft. Add the sauce to your frying pan and simmer for 20 minutes. Remove from heat. Once the sauce has cooled to room temperature, it can be stored in fridge for 3 days or the freezer for up to 3 months.
